Jewish Theatre Bloomington is holding auditions for our November 2026 production, Prayer for the French Republic by Joshua Harmon, and directed by Kendrick Weingast.

Auditions will be held Saturday and Sunday, March 7th and March 8th, 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Monroe County Public Library Downtown.

This production has a cast of eleven actors, ages 15/20/40/50/70/80 (see CAST INFO below).

​Performance dates: November 5-15, 2026 at the Rose Firebay theatre in the Waldron Arts Center.

Prayer for the French Republic features a multi-generational cast split between 1944–1946 and 2016–2017. It focuses on a French-Jewish family living in France as they struggle with their identity due to rising tensions from anti-Semitic attacks. This play won Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Play in 2022 and Outstanding New Off Broadway Play.

*Choreographed Staged Reading:
Actors move around the stage in scenes interacting fully with script in hand, and have their lines close to memorized. When watching a choreographed staged reading, the audience early on usually forgets actors are holding scripts!
